Special Computer Programs Training for Visually Impaired People
For the first time in Tanzania, National Institute Of transport in Collaboration with Information Center For Disability, conducted a special computer training for people with visually impairement. A group of 20 candidate participated in this program that lasted for three months.
Thanks to the Light for The World,a Non-Government Organization based in Vienna, Austria for sponsoring this event, including a special Training for the trainers in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa.
Participants were exposed into various screen readers that may assist them in using computers, these includes Narrator, Supernova, Jaws and Dolphin Mercury Pen. As well as Introduction to Computers and Screen Readers, Windows XP and Internet, Basic Microsoft Word 2003, Basic Microsoft Excel 2003.
We are proud to have the opportunity to serve the society, especially in bridging the Information Accessibility Gap, by offering a solution to the people with visual impairment, to have access to information through normal training of Information Technology and applications.
