Logistics and Transport Management

INTRODUCTION
The Transport Management Department was established way back in 1975 as the first major functional department in the National Institute of Transport (NIT). The Transport Management Department had endeavored, since then, to develop its performance and to achieve measures of excellence in its three main activities of Training, Research and community services in Logistics and Transport Management.

In the last three decades Transport Management department has taken significant steps, towards the development of all transport modes and related aspects through Certificate, Diplomas and Bachelor programs in Logistics and supply chain and Transport Management. The development process aimed at training students to acquire self-learning skills, introducing interactive methods of teaching and using modern technologies of teaching (e.g. Computer Aided Instructions). These efforts have led the department to be recognized as the best department in imparting Logistics and Transport Management knowledge and skills in Tanzania and beyond.

The Department is responsible for planning, organization and conducting of Logistics and Transport Management and Freight Clearing and Forwarding related programmes. The Department had endeavored to excel in terms of performance in major functional areas of education and training, research and consultancy services in Logistics and Transport Management.

Currently the Department is conducting the following programmes:

Bachelors Degree in Logistics & Transport Management (BLTM)

Bachelors Degree in Freight Clearing &Forwarding (BFCF)

Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management (ADLTM)

Advanced Diploma in Freight Clearing and Forwarding (ADCFF)

Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management (DLTM)

Diploma in Freight Clearing and Forwarding (DFCF)
