This department has seven units; Personnel & Administration, Finance, Students Welfare, Estates, Planning, Public Relations, and Audit. The department is concerned with all administrational and financial matters.
 NIT Objectives The primary objectives of NIT as outlined in the NIT Act No. 24 of 1982 are ;
• To provide facilities for education and training in the principles, procedures and techniques of transport operations, logistics management and such other related subjects as the Council may from time to time decide.
• To conduct education and training progammes in the subjects specified in sub paragraph (i) and in such other related subjects as the Council may from time to time decide.
• To engage into theoretical and applied research, operational and organizational problems, education and training needs in the subjects specified in sub-paragraph (i) and in the transport sector in general and to evaluate the results achieved by the Institute's Education and Training programmes.
• To provide consultancy services to the government, parastatal bodies and such other bodies or persons as maybe necessary
• To sponsor, arrange and provide facilities for conferences and seminars
• To establish departments within the Institute for the organization and administration of its work and activities
• To conduct professional examinations and to grant professional degrees, diplomas, and certificates of different types and other awards of the Institute
• To do all such acts and things, and enter into all such contracts and transactions, as are, in opinion of the Council expedient or necessary for the proper and efficient discharge of the functions of the Institute.
• To arrange for the publications and general dissemination of materials produced in connection with the work and activities of the Institute.
• To establish and foster closer association with other institutions of higher learning, professional bodies, associations and the transport industry.
