Students’ Organizations

The department coordinates and manage the affairs of the students’ organization (Students’ Government), associations, chapters and clubs. The Institute has a Students’ Organization of National Institute of Transport (SONIT) which is responsible for Students’ academic, social and recreational activities at the Institute. SONIT is the only official recognized organization representing all students of the National Institute of Transport therefore, all leaders under this organ are obliged to serve the students’ community diligently with full integrity and by observing the laws of the land as leaders, as it is for any citizen, apart from their Constitution, Students’ By – Laws and other regulations of the Institute.
Currently, the students’ social and academic associations, chapters and clubs at the Institute are Procurement and Supply Students’ Association (PSSA), Logistics and Transport Students’ Association (LTSA), National Institute of Transport Marketing and Public Relations Association (NPRA) and Institution of Engineers Tanzania (IET – NIT Students’ Chapter). Registration of any new association, chapter or club shall get approval of Rector through Dean of Students office.

Students Orientations

Orientation sessions intends to raise awareness on welfare and academic issues as well as the general Institutes’ laws, rules and regulations to all freshmen and continuing students in every new semester and academic year.

Students By – Laws.

The institute has the laws which governs the conducts of students. The department ensures that the Institute Students’ By-Laws and other Institutes’ basic laws, rules and regulations are observed and the necessary punitive measures are taken against culprits.

Gender Desk Services..

The department has the desk which intends to promote gender equality and discourage all acts which gears gender inequality among students and NIT community in general.

Religious Activities.

The entire NIT Community (Students and Staff) have complete freedom of worship, with essential limits that the enjoyment of this freedom shall not, in any way, prevent other NIT’s activities and/ or members in the Community from enjoying their own freedom. At the campus there is a mosque for Muslims and facilities for other major denominations are available within a walking distance from the Institute.

Other Services..

Stationeries.

Within the campus, there are number of privately owned stationeries where all students and any other NIT community member can access such services at reasonable price.

Bank Services.

NIT staff and students can access services from various banks such as NMB, CRDB, NBC and ACB which has their branches and ATM’s in a just walking distance. Other financial services, including Mobile Money, Banking Services (NMB and CRDB agents) are available on campus and in the neighborhood.

Postal Services.

NIT Staff and Students can also access Postal services. The most reachable Postal Office is located at Magomeni near Kinondoni Municipal Offices. The office offers all needed postal services. [/trx_column_item]
