Welcome to the Department of Maritime Transport Management (MTM) at the National Institute of Transport (NIT). It is with great pleasure that we extend our warmest welcome to all newcomers. MTM stands as a bastion of expertise in maritime transport, freight clearing and forwarding, and shipping and port logistics operations and management. As one of the newest departments at NIT, we are honored to host a diverse student body of over 2,000 students. Our department boasts modern facilities including state-of-the-art buildings, well-equipped classrooms, advanced computer laboratories, extensive libraries, and a wealth of online learning resources. These resources are meticulously curated to meet the evolving needs of our students. At MTM, we take immense pride in our team of highly qualified and dedicated staff who are committed to delivering excellence in both academic and professional training.
Our research endeavors and consultancy services are tailored to serve the dynamic demands of the shipping sector. Aligned with the overarching vision and mission of the National Institute of Transport, our department is steadfast in its commitment to nurturing highly skilled graduates. Our curriculum emphasizes a fusion of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, equipping our students for success in both employment and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, we actively pursue partnerships and seek recognition from esteemed local and international associations such as the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). These affiliations ensure that our graduates are well-positioned to thrive in a globalized industry. Moreover, our graduates have potential to excel and flourish in different career paths including; port manager, port operation officers, customs declaration officers, freight clearing and forwarding agents, ship broker, cargo surveyors, shipping agents, shipping line/ship/ferry managers, warehouse keepers, ICD manager, dry port manager, transport manager, logistics officers, tally clerks/officer, cargo consolidator, export and import controller/officer just to mention but a few.
