Welcome to Bureau for Transport Safety and Accident Investigation (BTSAI) of the National Institute of Transport. The BTSAI is the air, marine, rail and road investigation Unit established to promote transport safety through the conduct of training, consultancy, and independent investigations into air, marine, rail and road accidents and incidents. This is attained through several activities encompassing curriculum development, provision of training, coordination of seminars and workshops, gathering, recording and analyzing all available information on the accidents and incidents, determining the causes and/or contributing factors, identifying possible safety.
The Bureau is led by a Coordinator with the following Responsibilities:-
To coordinate curriculum development with the support of the curriculum coordinator for short courses on safety and accident investigations to all modes of transport i.e. Marine, Air, Pipeline and Railway.
Coordinating Transport Safety Training and Accident Investigation to all Departments/units i.e. Marine, Air, Pipeline and Railway.
To coordinate seminars and workshops as a platform for discussions on various road, railway, air and marine safety matters
Coordinate the capacity building of NIT staff from Marine transport, Road transport, Air transport railway transport and oil and Gas transport department safety, security and accident investigation
To coordinate consultancy on marine and petroleum safety and security
To coordinate community outreach on marine and petroleum safety and security vii. To coordinate short courses training for aircraft incident and accident investigation viii. To coordinate consultancy and research on air transport safety and accident investigation
