National Institute of Transport (NIT) is a Public Higher Learning Institution, established by the NIT Act No. 24. of 1982. Currently the Institute is under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development. However, its history dates back in 1975, when it was formed for the purpose of the production of manpower for the transport and the allied sectors. The complexity of the transport Industry and the intricacies involved in its management necessitated the introduction of comprehensive training programme for the Sector.
